Ch.1
7. This is according to the original mandate of Genesis 9:1; 17:1-8
12. Here is a principle that we, the Church, need to consider, when persecution comes - and it surely is coming. {For, are we who believe, not also a part of this blessing? - John 15:18-21}
A prophecy:
With every explosion of revival that I saw, came martyrs - more and more with each explosion, until I believe I saw multitudes:
I have begun calling these explosions of revival the “John 12:24 glory”…because I was literally watching this scripture play out all over the world:
For every martyr, there was an outburst of revival…fifty…one hundred fold! Then Satan (through his anti-christ regime) would retaliate…which would create more martyrs…which would only create more revival!

16. This is what happens when the thirst for power overtakes a person:- fear, paranoia, greed, jealousy => leading to murder (Genesis 4:5-8)
...The ultimate source being pride (Compare Matthew 2:16-18)
17-21. What is the reason for the rise in abortion?
People fear for their own lives: What they will eat, what they will wear, etc; but they have no FEAR of the LORD!
Ch.2
2.See Hebrews 11:23 :- This is the mystery of Election
6-9. Again, just as with Joseph, we see the Lord giving favor to his elected and working his own plan out through them, by moving on the hearts of others.
We receive it back, with interest!
Compare with 1Samuel 1
10. “Moses” - “to draw out”, because the LORD will “draw out” the Hebrews from captivity...will draw them through the waters of the Red Sea...and eventually, out through the desert, into the Promised Land. Pharaoh’s daughter does not understand - that it is in fact, the LORD who has given him that name.
14. They do not recognize Moses as one of them: Oppressed and afflicted people are bound to think on nothing but their own survival. This will create more problems for them during the desert wanderings.

Ch.3
1. Compare this to the humble beginnings of another great Hebrew leader: 1Samuel 16:11
Both Moses and David are foreshadows of the good, great and chief Shepherd yet to come: John 10:11-18; Hebrews 13:20; 1Peter 5:4

2-3. The Angel of the LORD: See Genesis 18
Burning bushes were not uncommon in the dry heat of the desert- But: They always burned up!
This bush was not burning: Implying that these flames were not natural flames: If the Lord had wanted to consume, he would (1Kings 18:38) - but, the Lord speaks to Moses from a place of Mercy. Acts 2:1-4 (Lamentations 3:22)
5. When we step into the holiness of the LORD, we too become holy:- meaning set apart, from the things of this world: We belong to him. We have been Redeemed by Him (see also Ruth 4:7-8)
6. In case Moses has forgotten - or maybe feels unsure; the Lord , not only introduces himself, as he did to Moses’s fathers, but reminds Moses of who he is - no Egyptian. (Moses has grown up as somewhat of an outcast: not Egyptian, although living as one of them; a Hebrew, though not living as one of them. We know from the Scripture, that Moses always knew who he really was: Now the Lord gives him some much needed affirmation.
7. See Genesis 2:24-25:- The Lord sees; the Lord hears; the Lord knows - and now, the Lord will act (vs.8)

Throughout the Old Testament, the Lord will continue to reveal himself to his people, through many different names; each name expressing a facet of his character
But: Each and every one of these names is wrapped up - and summed up - in this One Name:
Jesus...Yeshua: “The Lord our Salvation” (Matthew 1:21) The Name the Lord will give to Himself, when he becomes flesh and dwells among us (John 1:18)

Genesis 22 Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him, “Abraham!”
“Here I am,”he replied.
2 Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac(John 3:16)—-and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.”
~~Moriah will one day become King David’s Jerusalem, where on this same mountain, GOD’S only begotten Son will ultimately be sacrificed. (We will refer to this, later on in the study)~~
3 Early the next morning Abraham got up and loaded his donkey. He took with him two of his servants and his son Isaac. When he had cut enough wood for the burnt offering, he set out for the place God had told him about. 4 On the third day (Luke 13:32; John2:19) Abraham looked up and saw the place in the distance.
~~All the servants of G-d before the Cross, saw the Place of Sacrifice - of Salvation- only from a distance (Hebrews 11:13). This is true Faith.~~
5 He said to his servants, “Stay here with the donkey while I and the boy go over there. We will worship and then we will come back to you.” (John16:16)

Yeshua: Read Luke 19:28-47:
Seeing “the Place in the distance” (vs.4), and surrounded by “servants”, Jesus too, will “set His face like flint” and enter Jerusalem.
However, he will approach the Place of Sacrifice accompanied only by His Father. (vs.5)
**A servant is not required to go all the Way with his master Because “a servant does not know his master’s business.” (John 15:15) But a friend - a Son - will go all the Way with His Father (John16:32). Jesus did not stop after He rode the donkey into Jerusalem (vs3). Long before those same crowds had turned against Him and most of His disciples had abandoned Him, He had “set His face like flint and kept straight on” - to Death and through Death - that He would conquer Death and sin for all of us who couldn’t. (Romans5:6-8; Hebrews 12:2)**
Consider Abraham’s incredible statement in vs. 5: “We will worship and then we will come back to you” - this can be likened to Jesus’s own words in Matthew 26:39 “O My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as Thou wilt.” (Is not to humbly submit our lives into the hands of God the greatest act of worship?) And just like Jesus, Abraham’s faith is not without substance: “…we will come back to you” (vs5). His hope was in the resurrection - the Lord’s ability to overcome Death (see Hebrews 11:19). So he was not afraid to offer his “only begotten son” up to the Lord.

6 Abraham took the wood for the burnt offering and placed it on his son Isaac (Isaiah 53:4-6; John19:17; Galatians 3:13); and he himself carried the fire and the knife (Isaiah53:10). As the two of them went on together, 7 Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, “Father?”
“Yes, my son?” Abraham replied.
“The fire and wood are here,” Isaac said, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?” (John1:29)
8 Abraham answered, “God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” (Matt26:39; John 3:16; Rev.5:6). And the two of them went on together. (John16:32)
9 When they reached the place God had told him about, Abraham built an altar there and arranged the wood on it (Luke 23:33). He bound his son Isaac and laid him on the altar, on top of the wood (Mark 15:1; Psalm118:27).
10 Then he reached out his hand and took the knife to slay his son (Zechariah 13:7 - Matthew 26:31).
11 But the angel of the Lord called out to him from heaven,
“Abraham! Abraham!”
“Here I am,” he replied.
12 “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said...”

We will halt here for a moment, and look forward: to a time approximately 1000 years later - when this same region of Moriah has now become King David’s Jerusalem:

“…I will not take for the Lord what is yours, or sacrifice a burnt offering that costs me nothing.” (vs. 24)
So one millennia later, in this Same Place, and as the sword of judgement is being raised again - this time not over Isaac, but over his descendants - G-d will once again say “Stop!” (vs.15).
And it is at This Place where another altar: the Altar of Sin, will then be built (1Chronicles22:1); Purchased by David; built by Solomon, this is the Place that foretells of the Cross - the Place where “Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.” (Psalm 85:10); the Place where G-d has poured out His judgement - and also His everlasting MERCY; And where mercy has triumphed over judgement✝️ James2:13. G-d sees the Altar yet to be built; He sees the Cross; He sees HIS Son - and He says “Stop!”.

Which brings us back to Genesis 22: 12: “Stop! vs12: Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God,because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.” (Romans8:32)...

13 Abraham looked up and there in a thicket he saw a ram caught by its horns. He went over and took the ram and sacrificed it as a burnt offering instead of his son. (The Lamb is reserved for GOD’S only Son, which G-d will offer up in our place. John 10:17-18) 14 So Abraham called that place (YHWH Yireh) The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.”
*And it surely was❣️*
19-20. The Lord:- Omniscient - knowing all;
Omnipotent - all powerful:- unless compelled by a mighty hand. (vs.19)
Whose Hand?
Vs.20 So I will stretch out my hand and strike Egypt with all the wonders that I will do in it; after that he will let you go.
21. See Genesis 39:21-23
It is the Lord who gives favor, it is the Lord who makes the Way straight - because he is working out HIS will in us, to perform it.
22. This gold and silver, the Hebrews will need while out in the wilderness: It will be for the Lord’s purposes: Because he has stored up the wealth of the wicked to give to the righteous Proverbs 13:22
Ch.4
2-5.“A staff.” The LORD immediately takes Moses’s attention away from himself - and onto something that Moses relies upon...leans upon...almost continually; using this to speak to him: In this way, the LORD will invade Moses’s life!
“Catch it by the tail”: To show Moses’s authority comes from the LORD - he has none of his own. To catch a snake by its tail is extremely dangerous: It isn’t the tail that has the venomous bite - it is the head! So, this one act took great faith and trust: - upon the understanding, that the LORD had already caught the serpent by its head! (Genesis 3:15)
6-8. The LORD uses Moses’s staff - something that was so much a part of Moses - that he would have relied upon - leaned upon (His name may as well have been written on it) - that would have been as much a part of Moses as his right arm; the LORD takes possession of it - and before Moses’s eyes, in true “I AM” fashion, transforms its matter entirely - from something dead to something alive! In this way - by transforming so dramatically, something that was no less than an extension of Moses’s arm, the LORD has - quite literally - invaded Moses’s life!
In vs.6-7, the Lord will take this even further, to transform Moses’s actual hand: from life - to death - and back to life again (for He holds both in his Hand!)
In this way, the LORD is demonstrating, both his judgment - on Egypt; and his mercy - on Israel;
Both his power to take life - and his power to give it back. (John 10:18).
Now, he has left an indelible mark on Moses, that will stay with him forever!
Imagine: He will never look upon, either his staff, or his hand again, without the knowledge that neither one belongs to him: They are the Lord’s - He is the LORD’s!
The One who has the power to do whatever he wills: Moses now knows: His life is not his own; he belongs to the LORD!
9. The Nile was the source of life from Egypt: by removing this source, the LORD is literally removing Egypt’s life! Again, showing his power to give life - (the true source of the Nile - Egypt’s life - being the LORD) and the power to take life away.
The Nile was also the “burial place” of thousands of murdered Hebrew babies: The blood, symbolizing the LORD’s coming judgment upon Egypt for this abominable infanticide.
Genesis 4:10-11; 9:5-6
10. Even though he has seen the LORD transform his staff, his hand and has sworn to transform the River Nile itself, Moses still does not have faith enough to believe that the LORD can transform his mouth.
Why?
Unlike his staff, Moses tongue is apparently “weak” and not viewed by Moses as any great asset. We always seem to get hung up over our weaknesses - yet these are the very areas the Lord - for his glory - delights to use!
10. A good example here, of how the LORD deliberately slows us down, so that he can real us in, to walk with him...that he would teach us (vs.12) ...that we would learn, apart from him, we are nothing - and can do nothing. (2Corinthians 12:9)
11. An example of the Lord’s sovereignty over man, even in his fallen state: - see John 9:1-3
14. The LORD’s frustration, not only when we don’t trust him - but when we don’t trust him enough that he is able to overcome our weakness - to teach us (vs.12): The LORD wants Moses to surrender his mouth...his will...his life over to him. Because the LORD - his Creator - loves him!
And yet, in spite of Moses apparently failing this first test, the LORD will still provide: see vs.15-16; and his calling upon Moses’s life will still stand: “and he shall be your mouth and you shall be as God to him.”(vs.16)
17. He will now begin to use his staff (representative of his life) not for himself, but as an instrument for the LORD, as the LORD makes ready to invade the lives, of both the Hebrews, and the Egyptians.
21-23. Because the time of judgment has come; the window of grace to repent has now closed.

22. A type and shadow of Luke 2:11-14; Matthew 16:15-16 - the Messiah, who is the Seed that will come out of Israel.
But here comes a mystery:
If you refuse to let him go, behold, I will kill your firstborn son. John 3:16; (Isaiah 53:4-6, 10)
Here is the mystery of the sacrifice.
25-26. Here is the point of surrender: Like that of Abraham in Genesis 22:1-18.
The circumcision is a sign of belonging to God - and especially the first born. (See Exodus 13:1-2)
Without this circumcision - symbolizing Christ’s atoning sacrifice on the cross - all must, and will die. See Colossians 2:11-12.
27. We do not know how the LORD spoke to Aaron - how he first revealed himself to him; this is a mystery. But it was enough to move Aaron, body and soul, in obedience!
Ch.5
3. See Genesis 22:4; Hosea 6:1-2; Luke 18:32-33
All of this is foreshadowing the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, through his death and burial, paid the full penalty for our sins; and whose resurrection from the grave on the third day, proved that he was LORD and God (John 20:26-29). Now he requires that all who would worship him, first RECEIVE his sacrifice on the cross, separate themselves from the ways of the world and go out into the “wilderness” - where we learn to know HIS Voice and discover HIS Way.
If we do not follow him and worship him, we will face his judgement for our sins: -
“lest he fall upon us with pestilence or with the sword.”
4. Matthew 11:28-29
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Hebrews 4
Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us fear lest any of you should seem to have failed to reach it. For good news came to us just as to them, but the message they heard did not benefit them, because they were not united by faith with those who listened. For we who have believed enter that rest, as he has said,
“As I swore in my wrath,
‘They shall not enter my rest,’”
although his works were finished from the foundation of the world. For he has somewhere spoken of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works.” And again in this passage he said,
“They shall not enter my rest.”
Since therefore it remains for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news failed to enter because of disobedience, again he appoints a certain day, “Today,” saying through David so long afterward, in the words already quoted,
“Today, if you hear his voice,
do not harden your hearts.”
For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken of another day later on. So then, there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God, for whoever has entered God’s rest has also rested from his works as God did from his.
Let us therefore strive to enter that rest, so that no one may fall by the same sort of disobedience.
22. When the Lord is poised to bring judgment, we must be patient in our affliction; remaining separate unto the Lord and hidden in him.
Ch.6
1. From the beginning, Pharaoh has chosen not to acknowledge or honor the LORD, but to continually persecute those whom do. Now, God’s mercy (for the last 400 years), has finally run out - and the consequences of Pharaoh’s unrepentant heart will be disastrous.
(Deuteronomy 19:20; Genesis 19:1-29
2-8. I AM who I AM or “I will be who I will be”.
Abraham, Isaac and Jacob had no need to know God by any other name - being free from bondage, in the natural sense (When you have everything you need, why should you need the LORD). But everything is pointing toward the Messiah, who will deliver his people (and all of us) from, not physical bondage, but spiritual and eternal bondage, of death and Hell, because of sin. Yeshua is the summation of every “I AM in the Bible - meaning “the LORD is Salvation”; because, when all is said and done, THIS is our fundamental need. This is the mystery of the Name of the LORD. ~Abraham - as a forerunner of those who would be saved by grace, through faith alone - received the Promise, by faith, and so was counted as righteous (saved). Romans 4:1-8, 16-17; Galatians 3:5-9
~Moses is a representation of our lives while still in bondage, in need of a Savior (vs.5-8); and will therefore need to receive, both the Name: I AM/will be - (Salvation) and, later on, the Law: to stir their consciences, show them exactly what it is that they need saving from - and how, by the shedding of innocent blood - he will do it. (First, through the blood of bulls, goats and lambs - and then through his own blood!) Hebrews 9:13-14;
So, when he hears our cries for mercy, he will remember his covenant of Salvation, and will come down to save us: Hebrews 7:25; Matthew 5:3-4,6; Psalm 32:1-5; Psalm 107
4. Why this land?
Because: Genesis 22:1-18
In this same Place, approximately 2000 years later, the LORD will provide the sacrifice (vs.7-8) that will fulfill all made before it; that will deal with the ultimate bondage of sin and Death, once and forever. Until that time, the Israelites are sojourners in this land; watchmen, if you like, until the coming of the Lord and the Sacrifice.
~As we, who have received this Sacrifice, are sojourners in this world; waiting for the second coming of the Lord; not “humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.” Zechariah 9:9, but as the conquering King of all kings Revelation 19:11-21
8. · I will bring you out.
· I will rescue you from their bondage.
· I will redeem you.
· I will take you as My people.
· I will be your God.
· I will bring you into the land.
· I will give it to you as a heritage.
ii. “Each of these verbs are in the Hebrew past (i.e., perfect) tense instead of the future tense, for so certain was God of their accomplishment that they were viewed as having been completed.” (Kaiser)
iii. There is a strong contrast with the later five I willstatements of Satan in Isaiah 14:13-15. The great difference is that Satan was powerless to make any of his “I wills” come to pass. God is more than able to fulfill each of His promises.

9. And yet: Psalm 51:17
12. Compare this to the conversation in Exodus 3
Again, the Lord must assure Moses, that He will be with him; that He, the Lord will make the people listen and will fill Moses’s mouth with the words to say.

16-27. i. This portion is important because the priesthood that will eventually come from the family of Aaron will be passed down to his descendants. Therefore, it was important to know exactly who his descendants were.
b. The sons of Korah: These were related to Moses and Aaron; their father Korah was a cousin to Moses. The sons of Korah will also play part in a significant event before Israel reached the land of Canaan (Numbers 16).

25. The slavery of the great exodus from Egypt - deliverance from slavery - must be taught to the generations from its very foundation - along with these whom the LORD used to deliver them.
26-27. Just in case anyone, either at present, or far into the future, should doubt the authority of Moses as prophet, or Aaron as priest - here is the original authentification!
From here, will come the priests of the LORD, who will serve before him, in his sanctuary
Vs.30 - Ch.7:5
Compare this again, to Isaiah 6:5-8
It is the Lord who enables us, as surely as he calls us, to do exactly as he tells us;
Just as surely as it is the Lord who will harden Pharaoh’s heart - not to make things harder for Moses, but to fully display his glory, through his wrath and judgment toward Egypt; because the window of mercy has now closed.
3. Vs.3 tells us that Pharaoh’s time to repent, has run out (see Romans 1:18-24) - For the LORD will not pour out judgment without first giving opportunity for repentance (Genesis 18) He will now harden Pharaoh’s heart in order to show his glory and bring about this judgment - he knows Pharaoh’s heart.
9. This is exactly why: Matthew 12:38-42
11-12. Round one to the LORD: He is beginning, very gradually, to reveal his authority over every power and dominion in Egypt, to the Egyptians.
13. See Revelation 13:13-14:- let this be a warning
15. The staff: So Moses does not look ever to himself; but only to the One on whom (like the staff) he leans.
The Lord again reassured Moses, by reminding him, through “the staff the turned into a serpent”, who he is.

17. This is the same staff that transformed into a serpent before Moses eyes, swallowed up the serpents of Pharaoh’s magicians and transformed instantly back to a staff, when Moses caught it by - of all places - the tail!
All of this will slowly, by one act of obedience at a time, increase Moses’s faith and confidence in the LORD.
24. This blood is synonymous with the lives of multitudes of infants, who, at Egypt’s hands, perished in that same Nile River.
Ch.8
1.Ch.8-1
The LORD is about to judge Egypt by their gods:
Plague 1. Blood in the Nile: Judgement on Opis, Isis & Khnum - the god, goddess and guardian of the Nile.
2.Heqet: a frog-headed god (frogs were sacred in Egypt)
3. Set: god of the desert
4. Uachit: the fly god
5. god Apis, goddess Hather - both depicted as cattle.
6.Sekhmet, Sunu & Isis- gods of health and disease.
7&8. Nut: Sky goddess; Osiris: crop fertility; Set: storm god
9. Re: Sun god
10. Isis: protection of children
1. To serve:
To worship, through sacrifice; recognizing their need for forgiveness; only attainable through the shedding of blood:
All pointing to the One sacrifice that the LORD Himself will provide (Genesis 22:8; John 3:16-17) - which, after the third day, (Genesis 22:8; Exodus 3:18) will be fulfilled: Matthew 12:40; Luke 24:21
The LORD will separate his people - who have believed on the sacrifice and trusted in the blood - from the coming judgment
2. Judgment for worshipping Heqet: the frog-headed god
7. But apparently, the magicians couldn’t make these frogs go away again - because in vs.8 Pharaoh is now pleading with Moses and Aaron.
Vs.10-11: Be it as you say, so that you may know that there is no one like the LORD our God. The frogs shall go away from you and your houses and your servants and your people. They shall be left only in the Nile.”
13. Demonstrating, as with Abraham in Genesis 18:22-33, the balance of mercy and judgment, that is the character and nature of the LORD -> Psalm 29:9
16. Judgment for worshipping Set, the god of the desert
19. There is now, no longer any excuse for Pharaoh
“This is the finger of God.” The very “gods” the Egyptians have worshipped and looked to for life, the LORD - the I AM over all “gods” - will use to destroy them.
21. Judgment for worshipping Uachit - the fly god
22. Under the New Covenant, this separation is now the Cross - the One Perfect Sacrifice provided by the LORD, protecting all who have received it, from the judgment to come.
24. One after another, the LORD exposes and brings to absolutely nothing, the gods of Egypt, while bringing judgment on the Egyptians for worshipping them.
27. Outside of the City (symbolic of the corruption of this world) the LORD’s sacrifice will be made. (Hebrews 13:11-14)
Will must “come out from among them (Genesis 18:4) to follow our Lord on that three days journey: through Messiah’s death, burial and resurrection. 2Timothy 2:11; Matthew 12.40
29. Without the shedding of blood - without the sacrifice - there is NOTHING - no hope: Hebrews 9:22; Romans 5:6-8
Ch.9
1. Hebrews:
Here, the LORD names them for the first time - calling the , not Israel (who wrestles with God), but Hebrews: from “abar” meaning “region beyond” - before Egypt: The LORD’s ownership trumps Egypt’s slavery- because they belonged to the LORD FIRST.
This is demonstrating a direct connection to the God who was, is and forever will be...the God of their fathers
(They are a descendant of Shem)
A foreshadowing of we who are saved, through faith in the final sacrifice

9. Judgment for the worship of Sekhmet, Sunu & Isis - gods of health and disease.
10-11. The LORD is God; over the kiln, the fire, the soot, the dust - EVERYTHING!
14-15. This shows the process of God’s judgment: showing mercy on humanity, by first exposing and humiliating the lies and deception of Satan and his secret arts (see 1Kings 18:29-40), and by this, demonstrating his power before humanity, that they may somehow come to their senses, repent of their wickedness, that the Lord may turn and heal them. (Isaiah 6:8-10; Matthew 13:14-15; 2Chronicles 7:14)
This is the way it will be in the end (described in the Book of Revelation), and this is exactly why the Lord will allow the kingdom of anti-Christ to prosper, and how he will deal with it, in the end: first anti-Christ (man who rebels against God (Revelation 19:19-21); then Satan himself (Revelation 20:10)
19-20. Because the judgement upon the livestock is over - demonstrating Psalm 103:9 & Psalm 30:5
And now we see, from vs.20, that through this display of the LORD’s glory, some of the Egyptians are beginning to turn!
This is why the Lord brings such demonstrations of judgment:- not first to destroy life - but to save it!
20-21. Compare to vs.30 “But as for you and your servants, I know that you do not yet fear the LORD God.”
By not completing destroying the food source, he will allow another time of grace for the Egyptians to repent, knowing full well that this will have the opposite effect on Pharaoh, who will harden his heart again because of this.

and shall declare your mighty acts.
5 On the glorious splendor of your majesty,
and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.
6 They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds,
and I will declare your greatness.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight.

These are foreshadows of the future and final judgement, which the Lord will pour out upon those, who not only refuse to “serve” him, but will prevent his own people Israel, from doing so.

4-5. Judgment for the worship of Nut: sky goddess, Osiris: crop fertility god and Set: storm god
14. “...nor ever will be again.”
The LORD’s demonstrated authority over creation- because He is the LORD over, and the Creator of, creation.
“They covered the face of the whole land, so that the land was darkened,” - as though vs.15 is preparing them for what is yet to come: where there is no light, there can be no life.
16-17. Again, the classic example of 2Corinthians 7:10. Although some of the Egyptians are beginning to turn, the LORD is still not Pharaoh’s God, only Moses’s; and he will not bring himself before the LORD in repentance , but pleads for Moses to forgive his sins - and we know only the LORD, who is without sin, can forgive sin.
“only to remove this death from me.”
Because this is all that matters to Pharaoh
19. Again, the LORD demonstrates his power before Pharaoh, his magicians and advisors, and all of Egypt, to not only create, but destroy; to not only cause events to happen, but also cause them to stop. And the methods the LORD uses to stop the plagues are, at times, as greater signs as the plagues themselves. (Read Psalm 95; Psalm 147:15-18)
The remedy (this mighty wind sent by the Lord to remove the locusts) would in itself, have been enough to cause the Egyptians to tremble and hide in fear of the LORD.
20. Again, why is the LORD hardening Pharaoh’s heart?
Romans 1:18-32
21. Darkness: The total absence of light (see Genesis 1:3-4 , John 1:4-9 & 1John 1:5-9)
A demonstration...and unveiling...of the true Darkness (the false light) that Pharaoh and those who worship the sun god Re, seem to dwell so securely in.
How can there be such a thing as false light?
See 2Corinthians 11:13-15;
Consider also Jesus’s words in Matthew 6:19-24: the love of things of this world is a false security - a false light, which will actually lead to the eternal darkness of Hell.
23. This is a demonstration of the truth of how they have actually been living (in the worship of false gods and indulgence in evil practices) and they did not even realize it - because, again: 2Corinthians 11:13-15
“nor did anyone rise from his place for three days”
But: Jesus the Messiah was also in the grave (Hades) for thee days, in taking OUR darkness...OUR separation from God, who is Light...upon Himself

25-26. Again, the sacrifice is absolutely vital (foreshadowing the Messiah’s final sacrifice on the Cross), because without the shedding of blood, there can be no forgiveness for sins, which will leave us (humanity) eternally in darkness, separated from the LORD (Ephesians 5:8-14)
To serve him...is to acknowledge him (our fallen state before him - 1John 1:5-8)...is to KNOW Him.
28-29. Because it is the sacrifice that Satan hates (it bridges the gap between God and man) and it is the sacrifice that he will always try to prevent. See Daniel 9:27
Note on Genesis 3:15
When we read the Bible, we see that Satan was kept largely in the dark as to who would be the Seed of Eve (the Son of Man) who would crush his head.
By the time of the arrival of Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God however, there is reason to believe that Satan was beginning to realize:- Matthew 16:21-23
The wealth of the sinner will be used to build the very Place where the sacrifices for sin will be offered...until the Messiah...the One Perfect Lamb of God...will offer himself.
5. The death of the first born son:
John 3:16-17 - and immediately afterwards, three hours of “blackness” in the New Testament, the LORD will sacrifice his “firstborn” Son (Romans 8:29)
He will, in the fullness of time, take this entire judgment upon himself.
5. The Lord makes no distinction - except one: vs.7
6-9. This - the final judgement - will finalize everything: Egypt will NEVER rise again: not as the same nation.
Vs.9 Egypt’s cup is full - and the Lord will pour out the full measure of his judgement - until there is nothing left. See Genesis 15:12-14: The Lord truly has fulfilled this Promise to Abraham.
This is pointing toward a time when the LORD himself, will offer the One True Passover Lamb (See John 1:29-30); who will make all things new; that He can start again, from the beginning...and so can we! John 1:12-13; 3:3,16
3. ...Because the family is the LORD’s established order.

This is a picture of the LORD’s Passover: Here, is how the Church of Messiah is supposed to function: As a Body...as a Family.
5. Sheep: symbolic of Israel;
Goats: possibly symbolic of the gentile nations...because, in the end, the Blood of the Passover Lamb will cover all.

Here, is the Passover Lamb - pointing toward the One True, perfect and final sacrifice that the LORD will make - covering our sin and iniquity forever.

8-13. Vs.8 - see John 6:25-59
The bitterness of sin, which, once acknowledged and brought into the Light, we can then be cleansed of, by the Lord - symbolized by the unleavened bread. (1Corinthians 5:6-8; 1John 1:8-9)
Vs.10: We must walk with him wholeheartedly, fully committed to Him (John 6:51-58) and daily: This is the process of sanctification. More about this in Genesis 16
Vs.11: Symbolic of us, as sojourners - not belonging to this world...not making ourselves at home here, but dressed and ready for when the Lord returns for us. (Matthew 25:1-13; 1Peter 2:11; Revelation 18:4-5; painting a vivid picture of our readiness - and willingness - to flee from sin (1Corinthians 6:18; Genesis 19:12-26) - to go, with the Lord, when he calls us.
Vs.12: Numbers 3:12-13 - the Levites are acting as substitutes, for the firstborn of every Israelite; foreshadowing Yeshua...the Messiah...the only begotten Son of God, who, as the great High Priest (Hebrews 2:17), will also offer himself as a substitute for - not only the firstborn - but for the entire human race (whoever would believe on him - John 3:16-17)
Here, at this tenth and final plague, is the foreshadowing of the final and ultimate Judgment; which, without the Sacrifice of Messiah, all will one day, have to face.
Vs.13: The ultimate symbol and foreshadowing of the Blood of Yeshua...the Lamb of God...the Son of God - who saves us from sin, and its wages: Death (Romans 6:23)
Again, we realize that this entire series of judgments foreshadows the LORD’s final Judgment - not on Egypt - but the entire world.(Revelation 16)
It is here, that he will once again make a distinction: Between those who have applied the Blood of the Lamb to their lives (John 1:7-9) and those who have not (Revelation 20:15)

12. Psalm 16:4-6
15-20. In vs.1-13 we see a foreshadowing of Salvation;
From vs.15 onwards, comes the symbolism of sanctification: The process of molding us into the image of God, as revealed in Yeshua the Messiah - not reaching its fulfillment until His return. (1Corinthians 13:8-12; 1John 3:2-3), when in an instant, we will become perfect, as he is perfect (symbolized by the seven days of this feast - Hebrews 4:1-4)
The leaven is symbolic of sin. (Matthew 16:6)
Vs.16 The Sabbath -pointing towards the finished work of the Cross - is how we enter into this process of sanctification (through salvation at the cross) - and it will be how we leave it; when Christ returns for us and we are changed. (1Thessalonians 4:14-18)
A Sabbath on the first day, and a Sabbath on the last (seventh): From the start to the finish of this journey, we are trusting in the finished work of the Cross: There is no other salvation and no other way to Heaven. John 14:5-6; Acts 4:11-12

Ephesians 4:8-10
When the Lord, through his sacrifice, delivers us from the ultimate slavery - to sin (Genesis 3)
This feast (of unleavened bread) - its lessons, we must learn in our journey of sanctification;
And we remember at twilight - the beginning of Passover, 14-1500 years later- the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, who was slaughtered for us all. John 1:28-30
Vs.20: Here is the condition in which He must find us, on his return. See again John 6:27-58
21. Genesis 3:21 From the very beginning, the Lord has substituted our lives with the life - the blood- of another, to cover our guilt - until the Day comes that he will do this permanently. Psalm 118:24-27; John 3:16-17
22. Hyssop: a flowering plant that could be used as a brush.
Psalm 51:7
Note: the blood of the innocent substitutes must not be on the hands of those applying it. The hyssop is symbolic of the Lord, who by his own Hand, will apply his OWN blood to our lives, covering our guilt forever.
The only ones able to apply blood, will be the priests (Levites), appointed and sanctified by the Lord; who will act as a foreshadowing of Yeshua, the Messiah and Great High Priest. Hebrews 9:11-14

For, when we repent of our transgressions and receive Messiah Yeshua as our Lord, (when we partake of the Passover Lamb) we are transferred from the Kingdom of Darkness - and become citizens of a new nation - a new Kingdom: The Kingdom of Heaven...the Kingdom of Light: Ephesians 2:19; 1Peter 2:9-19; Philippians 3:19-21; 1Corinthians 11:23-32
And Matthew 22:11-13
Vs.44 ...for, it is for FREEDOM, that Christ has set us free; but, why would we need to cry out for freedom, if we do not first understand that we are slaves? see Romans 6:17-18
This was the dilemma faced by the Jews of John 8:31-36: If we do not recognize that we are sinners, how can we repent of our sin, and through the Blood of Yeshua the Lamb, be forgiven if it? John 9:39-41

Bones were usually broken by the poor and enslaved to extract the marrow; It was often done in desperation.
This command to not break the bones, shows that the Israelites were no longer enslaved, nor desperate: They were now free!
But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. John 19:34
So this freedom, granted by the sacrifice of Messiah, is not for the Jew only - but for all of us; including those among the soldiers who did not break its legs. Matthew 27:54; Mark 15:39
So it wasn’t only the Jews who “pierced him for their transgressions” (Isaiah 53:5; Zechariah 12:10)...who inadvertently offered the perfect sacrifice; it was the gentiles also! Acts 1:8 & Acts 10
This theme will be continued in vs.48:
“let all his males be circumcised. Then he may come near and keep it”
What does this truly mean for us today? Because we know that it is not by our flesh (outward action) that we are saved, but by a new and purified heart: Romans 2:25-29; Philippians 3:3; Colossians 2:11-15 (Acts 7:51)

2. Compare this to Exodus 12:29: Yes - because of the blood of the Passover Lamb...because of the covenant sworn to Abraham, which will see its fulfillment in the sacrifice of Messiah, the LORD has - and will continue to - make a distinction.
i. “Israel had been saved through the destruction of Egypt’s first-born, and now they were required to dedicate their own first-born as a constant memorial of their deliverance.” (Thomas)
Sanctified: set apart as holy.
3. Revelation 2:5
To forget: The magnitude of the debt of our bondage to sin; the price that was paid by the LORD’s own blood, to cancel our debt and pay for our sin...
To forget this, is to fall back into sin (leaven) again.
5-6. Here is a picture of how we live is sojourners in this fallen and corrupt world; by the grace of the Lord, rejecting the “leaven” that encompasses us from every angle...hating the very garments stained by the corruption of this world. Jude 1:23
This: the festival of unleavened bread, is a foreshadowing of our lives as disciples; continually set apart and being sanctified by the Holy Spirit, who is continuing the work of Jesus;
having first received and partaken of Yeshua, the Passover Lamb - our One and perfect Sacrifice: Our Salvation.
Until:
“...on the seventh day there shall be a feast to the LORD.”vs.6
What is this Seventh Day? See 1Thessalonians 4:3-4 (Revelation 19:7-10)
This is why the writer of Hebrews says that His Work (the Sacrifice for Redemption) was finished before the foundation of the earth - which is why, on the Seventh Day (Genesis 2:2-3) the LORD rested. Hebrews 4:3-4

And confirmed through the sacrifice of Messiah in Hebrews 8
“with a strong hand”: As he judged Egypt, the judgment for our sin will be driven into his (Messiah’s) hands. (Isaiah 53:5)

15-16. Here is Messiah, “the Firstborn among many brothers” (Romans 8:29), and the Only Begotten Son of God (John 3:16); who redeemed us with his own sacrifice (Ephesians 1:7) and the marks are forever engraved upon HIS hands. (John 20:27-28; Isaiah 49:16)
17. Because a bruised reed, he will not break and a smoldering wick, he will not snuff out. Isaiah 42:3
18. Because it is the wilderness, that prepares people for the true battle: Luke 4:1-13
...And it is in the wilderness, where the LORD will truly reveal Himself - by his Name: Exodus 3:1-6; 1Samuel 17:34-37; 1Kings 17:2-10

He leads me in paths of righteousness

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,

You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD
And it is through this revelation, that we recognize that thus would is not our home: We are sojourners.

...because, through Christ’s sacrifice, Death truly has become just a shadow of its former self It cannot harm us and no longer has any authority over us.

And because the Lord is with us, we know that we will walk THROUGH this valley...all the way (we will not get lost...we will not get stuck) ...just as surely as the Hebrews are about to walk through the greatest barrier they have encountered yet!
